Supervision of School Music Programs

This hands-on course is designed to explore the responsibilities, experiences, and qualities typically found in the job of the Music Supervisor.  The course will conclude with a guided experience in making a formal presentation to the school board on the topic of the student's choice.  Among others, specific topics will include:

Syllabus

Instructor: Marcia MacCagno Neel currently serves as the Supervisor of the Secondary Music Program with the Clark County School District headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is in her twenty-seventh year with the district--the nation's fifth largest--and has led the Secondary Music Program to an enrollment approaching 50,000.
Considered a leader in the field of music education and advocacy, she has been elected to represent her peers as president of the Nevada Music Educators Association; president of the Nevada Choral Directors Association; and member of the National Executive Board of MENC, the National Association for Music Education.
In the Spring of 1993, Mrs. Neel was selected as Nevada's Music Educator of the Year and achieved national acclaim when chosen as The 1993 Disney Channel National Performing Arts Teacher of the Year.
