Jon Gillock
Jon Gillock, known for his sensitive and moving performances, is the leading American interpreter of Olivier Messiaen’s repertoire. In 1978, in honor of Messiaen’s 70th birthday, Jon Gillock performed Méditations sur le Mystère des la Sainte Trinités in the composer’s presence at New York City’s Cathedral of Saint John the Divine. Messiaen was touched by Gillock’s artistry, and the performance cemented a long friendship between them. The New York Times has called Gillock “one of the most persuasive champions of Messiaen’s mystical and mysterious organ works.”
